Update on Brazos Bridge reconstruction and safety improvements
A message from District C Council Member Abbie Kamin’s office on safety improvements that will accompany the rebuild of the Brazos Bridge:
Houston Public Works has confirmed that the safety improvements that were originally planned as part of the Brazos Bridge reconstruction are proceeding as planned (see the attached documents for more details). The biggest safety improvement is taking out the left turn lane from Smith onto Holman, and expanding the median between Bagby and Smith to shorten the distance (and time) for pedestrians to cross. If you have any questions about the specific improvements, please let me know and I’ll be happy to follow up with Public Works!
The pedestrian improvements will probably be completed toward the end of the project, which is scheduled for substantial completion in February of 2021.
